Lindenhafen Fishing Resort is located 4 miles East of Gasmata on the south coast of New Britain Island in Papua New Guinea. Nestled amongst coconut trees on the sandy foreshore of an 800-hectare coconut plantation, the resort is protected from the Solomon Sea by a natural harbour called Linden Harbour, which is formed by tropical islands and reefs. There is a safe anchorage in front of the resort for visiting Game Boats and large Live-aboard Dive Boats.

Within 1 hour by boat east and west of the resort lie 8 magnificent rivers, which are the homes of the legendary PNG Black Bass, Spot Tail Bass and Mangrove Jack. The blue water fishing too is excellent with the 9th deepest trench in the world 60 miles off shore. The resulting sub-surface currents push marlin, yellowfin tuna, dogtooth tuna, giant wahoo and an array of other blue water species within 4 miles of the resort. It is not uncommon to go out for a days fishing and catch up to 10 different species.

Gasmata and the surrounding coastline was famous during the 2nd world war as a Japanese stronghold, attracting air raids by allied forces, thus the multitude of war wrecks which scatter the area. Snorkelling, swimming in limestone natural spring pools, village tours, hiking to waterfalls or just lazing about under the shade of a coconut tree on your own little island are all the activities to be enjoyed.

Accommodation is bungalow style, of which six of the 10 bungalows have their own ensuite. The main building consists of an air-conditioned lounge, fully stocked bar and a large deck for dining and general relaxation. All buildings are close to the water and have unrestricted views of the sea, islands and reefs. Two family bungalows are also available.

Lindenhafen has a 6 month season running from November through to the end of April. Access to the plantation is via fixed wing charter from Hoskins. The 35 minute flight takes guests over a 6,OOOft rainforest covered mountain range. Helicopter transfers are also available.

Lindenhafen offers dive packages managed by Walindi Plantation. The dive sites at Lindenhafen are described as on par with the best in the world.
